"We are extremely happy with Richard's work on our fireplace and chimney. He is conscientious, thoughtful, and strives for perfection. We highly recommend him for any masonry work."

"Lane County Parks contracted with Richard Gambino Stonemasonry to install a stone surface around the base of our monument at the top of Mt. Pisgah. We needed a surface that would handle the thousands of visitors we receive each year and at the same time fit the natural setting. Richard did a great job of blending the stonework into the site to meet our functional and aesthetic needs."

Jake Risley,
Park Planner, Lane County Parks

"Richard Gambino , stone mason, recently completed three mortarless basalt garden walls for my residence totaling 110 lineal feet, as well as some stone steps. I want to commend his performance on every aspect of the work.
He committed to a fixed price and time for the project, was always prompt in arriving at the job site, and worked consistently to meet his projected completion time. He followed instructions well, and provided feedback from the standpoint of a craftsman. The overall quality of the stone walls and steps is superb. I am very satisfied with Richard's work as well as his cooperative attitude toward the project, and I recommend him highly for similar work."

Don Lutes, FAIA

"Richard Gambino has proven himself to be a stone mason a cut above the rest. I was grateful for his talents and sensitivity when he was employed to build a memorial stone bench for the Mount Pisgah Arboretum and a stone base for a sighting pedestal on Mount Pisgah’s Summit.
Both of these projects were memorials for the loss of loved ones requiring sensitivity to the special wishes of the donors. These projects needed a mason able to design and construct structures suitable for the natural beauty of the park and sturdy enough to withstand the sands-of-time and rigors of heavy public use. Both jobs needed to be completed on a tight budget and time schedule. Richard exceeded our expectations on all counts. I can't think of a mason job large or small that I would hesitate to recommend Richard for."

"Richard Gambino is a remarkable stonemason. His combination of unique Celtic training, exceptional skill and strong work ethic have led to his reputation as one of the best craftsmen of any kind in the Eugene area. He does great work. And he's a nice guy, easy to have around while the project is underway. We've relied on Richard to do a variety of projects for us and have always been delighted with him and his work."

"I first worked with Richard on a large custom house being constructed overlooking the McKenzie River, about 30 miles east of Eugene. The home was sited on an outcropping of Cascade range granite, and the foundation excavation generated an abundant supply of workable stone.
Richard in collaboration with other masons, wove the stone into the foundation of the house, created retaining walls that seemed to grow naturally out of huge existing stones on the bluff overlooking the river, as well as creating gently formal entry walls that bordered the landscaped drive. The home seemed to grow out of and be part of its setting, in a solid timeless way.
Richards beautiful and durable style of laying stone, his care and sensitivity to detail and craftsmanship, and his gentle, respectful and collaborative manner of working with others, recommends him to anyone who demands the highest quality, and can appreciate it when it is achieved."

"All of us involved with the GrassRoots Garden are tremendously grateful to expert stonemason Richard Gambino, who is graciously donating over two hundred hours of his time and energy to build two beautiful stone walls at the Garden. The first, a mortar-free dry-stack stone wall, is almost done, and it has already made such a difference in the Garden -- lending elegance and charm, as well as a sense of permanency and stability. Its beauty will reward the labor of everyone who volunteers at the Garden, as well as the parishioners of our host congregation, St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Both volunteers and visitors have been fascinated as they watched the first wall being assembled. As an unanticipated bonus, Richard has become a role model for youths who volunteer at the Garden, many of whom are in court-ordered programs or are at pivotal points in their lives. The young people have vied to see who could choose the best stones and haul them for Richard, and he has been thoughtful and patient with them. The young people clearly feel honored to be part of the process, to help a skilled professional in creating a work of art.
We are all deeply grateful to Richard for his invaluable gift to the GrassRoots Garden."

"Richard is a good worker. He can formulate the most esthetic way to put the stones together. I thought it was nice that he allowed me to put a message for posterity inside the stonework of the landing for our house.. "

"Thank-you, Richard for your wonderful work. Not only is the finished product exactly what we wanted (and more!), but the process of working with you was great...you really listened to what we wanted, and found a way to do it within our budget and time constraints. And your laid-back, but focused energy is always a joy to be around. I will certainly recommend you and your work to other folks.
Blessings to you......Nancy"

"His wall has transformed our garden into a place of magic."

"I grew up near the foothills of California where stone fences built by Chinese laborers speckle the landscape. Now, living in New Jersey, stone walls are common in hedge rows between farms. Not one has ever occurred to me as "a work of art " - that is, until I first saw a wall built by stonemason, Richard Gambino, in Oregon. There it was! Fitted together perfectly as if nature had hand carved each stone for its place in his design. Stones arranged so that their differences in color, texture and shape, contributed to the overall mosaic of the pattern - each distinct, yet each integral to the whole.
Each of his designs, whether a stone wall, a chimney, a gate or a retaining wall, express his philosophy of life. And soon you find that his presence, his beliefs, his ideals overtake you as you gaze at his work. If you can afford nothing more than a bird bath built by him, it is worth the investment for the peace and tranquility you will experience when near his work!"

"Richard Gambino's handiwork is a mix of beautiful & sound structural design that will last way past my lifetime. His years of experience in stone masonry results in functional pieces of artwork that blend craftsmanship and artful design within the natural surroundings of the particular landscaping at hand -- and in our case -- of our house & home. Richard takes pride in his creations and meticulously works with attention to detail, whether he is building a set of stone steps, a walkway, walls, chimneys or any one of his beautiful customized and tailor-fit jobs.
I love his work and would recommend him to anyone wanting a beautiful, customized job that brings a smile to your face every time you see it!"
