After
reading several books on stonemasonry, I was impressed by
Ian's mastery of the craft. He described a method of stonemasonry
that has passed the test of time. "Traditional Random
Rubble" is the method with which all the oldest stone
buildings, such as castles and cathedrals in Scotland are
made.
Stone
Structures have been built for many centuries, the techniques
passed down from craftsman to craftsman, father to son. Ian
Cramb is a fifth generation stonemason who relies
on the old methods of building to create and restore beautiful
structures that will last for centuries. Born in Scotland
and now a resident of the State of Pennsylvania he has passed
the techniques on to his son and has mentored me since 1994.
